Concrete made with slag cement provides higher compressive and flexural strengths compared to concrete made entirely with portland cement.
Slag cement helps reduce permeability, sulfate attack, and alkali-silica reaction creating a longer lasting and more resilient concrete.
Slag cement is a recovered material from the iron production process, thus reducing the environmental impact of concrete mixtures.
Concrete mixes with slag cement tend to have a smoother and more workable consistency than when working with only portland cement. Slag cement enhances the consolidation and pumping of concrete by improving its rheology, or flowable nature. This leads to an easier-to-work-with paste and a smoother concrete finish.
Slag cement has a consistent and uniform manufacturing process, this leads to creating concrete with more predictable and consistent results.
Slag cement can be used in a number of different applications and at higher percentage replacement levels of portland cement than other cementitious materials.
