Aston Martin Residences, a cutting-edge skyscraper located in Miami, Florida, incorporates sustainability into its design by utilizing lower carbon high strength mixtures with up to 70% slag as a cement replacement. This innovative approach not only reduces the carbon footprint of the project but also results in a consistent and lighter color concrete. The use of such high percentages of slag in the cementitious mixture creates a visually appealing light appearance, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the project.
At 66 floors and 817 ft (250 m) tall, Aston Martin Residences is expected to be the tallest all-residential building south of New York, NY, USA. The building will feature a full-service marina that can accommodate superyachts.
Slag cement helped to increase pumpability and workability, longer slump retention, sulfate resistance, and the ability to achieve higher strengths.
