Slag Cement School

The Slag Cement Association is pleased to be hosting its second annual Slag Cement School in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on May 22-23, 2023. The school will include educational presentations on slag cement use in concrete construction, sustainable resources available, and other presentations on benefits of use. On day two, attendees will also get a behind the scenes look at a local cement plant. View the full-schedule here.

Official Hotel/Travel

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach is the official hotel for Slag Cement School. All educational sessions and social events will take place at the The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach.

 

The Slag Cement School hotel block is expected to sell out early! Reserve your hotel room online at the The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach. The Slag Cement School discounted group rates are available until April 28, 2023, subject to room availability.

For those traveling from out of state, SCA suggests arriving at the Melbourne Orlando International Airport (41mi from the hotel) or the Orlando International Airport (45mi from the hotel.)

Health & Safety Requirements

For those attending the Heidelberg Materials cement plant tour on May 23, SCA suggests attendees bring their own safety footwear (closed toe shoes, steel toed shoes preferred) and bring personal PPE. Hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and gloves will be provided to those that don’t have personal gear. NOTE: The cement plant can handle 30 guests at a time. Each tour is 30-40 minutes in length with 2-3 tour timeslots being available to attendees.

Photographs/Video

SCA will take photographs and video during Slag Cement School and reproduce them in SCA educational, news, or promotional material—whether in print, electronic, or other media—including the SCA website. By participating in Slag Cement School, you grant SCA the right to use your name, photograph, and biography for such purposes.
