Slag Cement School
The Slag Cement Association is pleased to be hosting its third annual Slag Cement School in Alsip, Illinois, on April 29-30, 2024. The school will include educational presentations on slag cement use in concrete construction, sustainable resources available, and other presentations on benefits of use. Official Hotel/Travel
The DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip is the official hotel for Slag Cement School. All educational sessions and social events will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip.
The Slag Cement School hotel block is expected to sell out early! Reserve your hotel room online at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip. The Slag Cement School discounted group rates are available until April 2, 2024, subject to room availability.
For those utilizing air travel, SCA suggests arriving at the Chicago Midway (MDW) Airport, 9 miles away from hotel or Chicago O'Hare (ORD), 31 miles away from hotel.
Health & Safety Requirements
For those attending the Holcim’s slag cement plant tour on April 30, SCA advises attendees bring their own safety footwear (steel toed shoes are required!) and bring personal PPE. Hard hats, safety vests, and hearing protection will be provided to those that don’t have personal gear. NOTE: Shuttle transportation is expected to take 40 minutes to arrive to and from the plant. Each tour is 30-40 minutes in length.

SCA will take photographs and video during Slag Cement School and reproduce them in SCA news or promotional material—whether in print, electronic, or other media—including the SCA website. By participating in Slag Cement School, you grant SCA the right to use your name, photograph, and biography for such purposes.
