Located in New York City, NY, USA, the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project connected the Sheridan and Bruckner Expressways, creating a new on-ramp and exit. The project started in May 2020, and the Governor and Mayor will make appearances for the grand opening of the highway ramps.
Sections of pillars and columns needed mass concrete, along with design-build requirements for high-performance concrete (HPC) mixtures. At least 12 different mixtures were applied throughout the entire project.
Because low maximum temps were required for mass concrete placements, slag cement was an integral part in developing HPC mixtures.
