Located in Spring Hill, Florida, the Pasco Ready Mix – Spring Hill Production Facility is a model of modern, environmentally friendly industrial design. Developed on a five-acre parcel, the project emphasizes sustainability through natural drainage systems and the preservation of existing landscape, all while showcasing the very products the facility was built to produce.

The facility was constructed using a 50/50 ratio of type 1L cement and slag cement, serving as a real-world billboard for the newest low-carbon concrete technologies. In addition to its environmental benefits, the slag-enhanced mix was chosen for its superior pumpability and workability, allowing the team to maintain high slumps for efficient placement.

The structural demands of this site were immense. The base pads had to support 225-ton silos and withstand the daily wear of heavy vehicles and equipment. Thanks to the early strength gain provided by the slag cement, the crew was able to begin setting equipment on the pads much sooner than expected. In fact, once the base pad was complete, the plant was positioned by driving four tractor-trailer loads directly over the slab, eliminating the need for expensive crane time.

The project also offers a unique aesthetic benefit. The slag-integrated pads illuminate beautifully under property lights, creating a bright, highly visible, and safe work surface. The Pasco facility proves that slag cement is not just a building material, but a high-performance tool that improves construction speed, durability, and site safety.
